Adult film star ®️Amber Lynn‘s life has been a captivating dance between the glitz of the adult film industry and the complexities of personal journeys. Emerging from a turbulent childhood, she found solace in the Los Angeles club scene as a teenager. It was there she she met Althea Flynt, wife of “Hustler” magazine publisher Larry Flynt, opening the door to a world of modeling and photography. As a result, in the early 1980s Amber became a bikini and figure model in Los Angeles, and part of the notorious Sunset Strip club scene – the stage was set.
She did some photo spreads for Hustler, taken by famed photographer Clive McLean, then did shoots for “Chic”, “Penthouse”, “Playboy”, “High Society” and “Club” men’s magazines.
Amber soon got into the adult film business, debuting in Bobby Hollander’s Personal Touch III (1983). However, the bright lights of fame cast a long shadow. Industry scandals and personal tragedies, including the suicide of close friend Shauna Grant, led Amber to question the cost of her success.
She opted for a dramatic career shift, leaving the adult film world behind (although she would return!) and embracing a life of dancing and private performances in Canada. After crossing over to become a featured dancer on the “gentleman’s club” circuit – the first adult film star to do so – she was earning up to $25,000 a week performing in clubs all over the US and Canada, to packed houses. While the transition proved challenging, it allowed Amber to explore her artistic side and forge a deeper connection with her audience.
Embracing her newfound freedom, she ventured into radio hosting, advocacy work, and even made an appearance on the reality show “Bad Girls Club.” Today, Amber lives a quieter life, her experiences shaping her into a complex and fascinating woman who continues to inspire with her resilience and unwavering spirit.
In addition to her adult work, she has also had parts in several non-adult Hollywood productions, such as 52 Pick-Up (1986) with Roy Scheider and directed by John Frankenheimer, and Evils of the Night (1985) with John Carradine and Julie Newmar, and has appeared on The Man Show (1999) with Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel.

She is a member of the Adult Video News (AVN) Hall of Fame and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Free Speech Coalition (FSC). She has been a vocal opponent of the Los Angeles “Safer Sex in the Adult-Film Industry” initiative, which would mandate condom use in adult films shot in Los Angeles County. Since 1992 she has been involved in the Youth AIDS Foundation of Los Angeles, the first charity to accept contributions from the adult industry.
In August, 2018, Amber won the Nollywood Humanitarian Achievement Award.
Amber Lynn has been a major part of the adult-film industry for almost 30 years and is one of the most recognizable names – and faces – inside and outside the business.
