From Amber:
Several years ago, when I decided to trademark the professional performer name I’ve used since 1983 (36 years!) my closest mentor and official adult industry historian, Bill Margold, offered to contribute. The following is an email he wrote to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on my behalf:
To Whom It May Concern,
Without any doubt whatsoever, the Adult Entertainment Industry performer AMBER LYNN has been a major presence and and tireless force in XXX (and its related forms of crowd pleasing creativity, such as dancing, personal appearances, and humanitarian gestures) from 1983 to the present.
And quite frankly…she hasn’t exhibited any signs of slowing down.
In my capacity as office manager of “Reb” Sunset International, I am proud to take credit for discovering her in 1983, and in the process, nicknaming the luminous lady, who was to become a multiple award winning Legend: “The Blonde Panther.”
And in my capacity as the acknowledged Porn Historian, I can, without any doubt whatsoever, validate the fact (thoroughly substantiated by IAFD.COM) that there has been and always will be…only one AMBER LYNN.
Therefore anyone foolish enough to misappropriate that name—in any capacity—would be doing themselves – as well as the history of Adult Entertainment – a serious injustice.
In the hope that this statement will be of value, I am,
WILLIAM MARGOLD
Bill sadly passed away on January 17, 2017 – and I’ve missed my close friend and valued confidant ever since. I thought fans might appreciate this inside look into the adult industry, and wanted to share. Godspeed, Mr. Margold. You are loved.
A bit of trivia I did not know about. Sorry for your loss.
