Remembering Jesse Jane

News of Jesse Jane’s recent and untimely passing was as oddly-timed as it was tragic. Especially since, in part, the news unfolded during this year’s AVN Awards in Las Vegas.

Jesse Jane In Memoriam

Then came the criticism on social media that Jesse (who hosted the awards in 2013) was only given a couple of seconds during the “In Memoriam” segment. Others pointed out she’s one of the only adult stars to ever have an obituary in the New York Times.

If the NYT cares, maybe more of us should have, too.

Feeds were full of her adult industry friends paying tribute, sharing selfies, and wishing her a peaceful journey. While I did not attend AVN this year, it must have been comforting that so many of Jesse’s colleagues were able to support each other, together, so soon after the sad announcement.

The Legacy of Jesse Jane

Jesse Jane was a big deal. Many years out from her last onscreen porn appearance, news of her passing spread through popular culture in a way most of her contemporaries wouldn’t have in terms of industry news.

I saw a lot of myself in Jesse from the start. Beautiful, talented, quick to the front of the starlet line – and just a little more than wild.

The fact she was featured in the highly successful 2005 film, “Pirates“, which was praised for its high production values, comparable to mainstream Hollywood films, was no accident. It remains one of the highest grossing adult films of all time, and her remarkable performance – while still very early in her career – solidified her as a true adult star.

2013 AVN Awards

Let’s go back to 2013 again for a moment in time. I attended the awards that year, and between everyone’s booth signings, dinners, shows and hotel room parties – was introduced to Jesse by a mutual friend. And introduced for a very specific reason.

While I had a lot of fun that week, it was also my 13th year of sobriety.

A difficult struggle which I’ve spoken about here, in print and on podcasts many times. I was told Jesse had some serious potential issues lurking and that I may be able to help her. So of course, as I would do that for any industry sister or brother, I said I’d be happy to meet with her in private.

Jesse Jane, Interrupted

Jesse and I had a meaningful conversation in the middle of all the insanity that weekend. Sadly though, I never got the ongoing, long-term, chance to support her. After several unanswered outreach attempts, it got back to me that others in the industry had dissuaded Jesse from connecting with me. Likely the same people who wanted her to remain weak, dependent and making them all that “IT girl” money.

Maybe, because she was so popular at the time, I foolishly assumed there’d be someone else among her entourage to keep Jesse Jane on the rails. That would help her set herself straight. Unthwarted by other party-people in her camp.

I was wrong, I regret it, and when I saw her name trending a few weeks ago I immediately knew why. Not suggesting I could have made any difference. Just beating myself up a bit for not trying harder. May you sleep peacefully, Jesse.

Amber Lynn Supports the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike

Joined my fellow actors today on the strike line at Warner Bros. Studio. We made our grievances known, stopped traffic, and contributed to the cause.

Why Strike?
The 2023 SAG strike is marking an important moment in the history of the entertainment industry. A culmination of longstanding issues, it’s driven by a multitude of factors.

amber lynn sag aftra strike

Residuals
One of the main reasons for the strike was the question of residuals. Actors, like many other creative professionals, earn a significant portion of their income from the residuals or the ongoing earnings from the shows and movies they participate in. However, in the age of digital streaming and on-demand services, the traditional model of residuals has been disrupted. SAG members felt that they were not being adequately compensated for their work when it was streamed or downloaded, leading to a major point of contention.

Safety
Another driving factor was the issue of safety on set. There were growing concerns about long hours, inadequate breaks, and the physical risks associated with certain scenes. The actors felt that their concerns weren’t being addressed and that their safety was being compromised, which was another catalyst for the strike.

Span
Finally, the dispute over the ‘span of day’ rule also played a part in the SAG strike of 2023. The rule, which determines how many hours an actor can work in a day, was being flouted by several production companies. This, coupled with the other issues, eventually led the actors to take a stand, resulting in the 2023 SAG strike.

I believe in solidarity, had to join the protests, and I am a member of SAG-AFTRA and an officer of APAG. I stand alongside my peers and wholeheartedly support the WGA writers guild.

Amber Lynn in StripLV Magazine

UPDATE: The STRIPLV issue featuring me is now launched with a digital version available for purchase ($4.99).

I really enjoyed the interviewer’s questions, and as it turns out we’d even met once before in the mid-80s! We got deep into some subjects I think my fans will enjoy, and working with STRIPLV was a pleasure from start to finish. Not to mention, they take great photos and I’ve included some of them below.

Almost immediately, I met John Leslie, Jamie Gillis, and Paul Thomas. These guys were beautiful, and they were great actors, and they believed in their craft… There were scripts and crews, and I worked on some of the biggest movies happening back then.

From their website: “STRIPLV Magazine is the only magazine dedicated to bringing you the best of the world’s adult playground, with nude pictorials, along with lifestyle articles, and celebrity interviews and features.”

SLV1

“I used to go the the junior high school playground and just hang from the monkey bars because my brother (Buck Adams) would say it will stretch your body.”

It was revitalizing to be back in front the camera after the crazy year and a half we’ve had. I was honored to shoot with the amazing Santo Donato, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the results. Here’s one more ’till October.

SLV2

We got spoiled rotten back then. There was only a handful of performers… it was Traci Lords, myself, Ginger Lynn and a couple of others. Nina Hartley, Christy Canyon – there was like a handful. You could count the majors on one hand.”

I’m back, baby. Back in LA and back to work. Hope everyone else is feeling the same enthusiasm and happiness. See you soon!

Farewell, Larry Flynt

I was deeply saddened to hear Larry Flynt passed away last week, and send my thoughts and prayers to his wife Liz, Theresa and the entire Flynt Family and LFP.

My gratitude for his contributions to my career can never be fully expressed. There were countless magazine covers, centerfolds and feature articles in Hustler, Chic, Gentlemen’s Companion and Rage – not to mention getting to pioneer the feature dancing scene at his nationwide Hustler Clubs.

He once invited me to to Paris, France to do a celebrity article for Hustler called Planet of the Amber Lynns for which James Baes shot the pictorial. One of my favorite memories from my time in adult cinema.

I was his Holiday issue Hustler Honey of the Year for 1991, and more will be shared about in my relationship with Larry and Althea in my upcoming autobiography.

In closing, Larry Flynt was an American hero who fought tirelessly for free speech. It was an honor to hear from him as recently as New Years’ Eve, and our industry has suffered a huge loss. Godspeed, Larry. You were an original, and I love you.

Happy New Year from Amber Lynn!

Wow – what a rollercoaster of a year it has been. I hope all of my friends, family and fans are as happy as I am to have 2020 firmly in their rear view. It’s time to celebrate!

Best wishes to everyone! Here’s to a fabulous new year, the hope we can all start to intermingle again soon – and a welcome return to normalcy. Good riddance.

Amber Lynn’s Favorite Female Co-stars: Part 2

As promised here is part 2 of my very favorite female co-star list. If you missed it, be sure to have a look at part 1. I’ve been having a great time working on this list and hope you’ve enjoyed reading it just as much. Also, be sure to check out my new Amber Lynn’s Favorite Costars gallery – which I’ve just launched to add further content to the main list!

Jeanna Fine
A friend during our time in the industry, I was also Jeanna Fine‘s first girl/girl costar in 1986’s She Comes in Colors. If her amazing body, enthusiastic performances and deep, sexy voice weren’t enough, Miss Fine never stopped impressing me with all the ways she changed her style over her 2+ decades in Adult. And every new look was as scorching hot as the previous version. We also had a lot of fun working together, for the last time (so far) in 2002’s No Man’s Land: Legends.

Nina Hartley
Whether considering her looks, unbelievable posterior, generous nature in terms of sex education or her longevity as a relevant industry personality – Nina Hartley’s impact and legacy in Adult cannot be denied. It’s even better when you got to work with her, as I did in this funny clip from 1989’s Battle of the Titans where we try to verbally one-up each other before the film’s action scenes get started. Our girl/girl scene in 1986’s Getting L.A.’d was one of the best times I ever had on a set. I’ve also appeared more recently on her terrific website, Nina.com, and you can tell her Amber sent you. Never a dull Nina-moment, and she always leaves me with a smile!

Sharon Mitchell
In possession of one of the hottest… let’s call it “sexual auras”… I’ve ever encountered, Sharon Mitchell and I spent so much time together through the 80s that we collective became known in the industry as the “Toxic Twins”, and our girl/girl scene in 1986’s Hollywood Harlots was a mind-scrambler. Her work regarding sexual health and regular testing for performers was absolutely groundbreaking, and everyone in the business owes her a debt of gratitude to this day. Sharon Mitchell, I love and salute you.

Teri Weigel
You know her, you love her, she’s Teri Weigel. A former Playboy Bunny who went on to take the scene by storm, Teri’s incredible physique and glamor girl looks were matched only by her bubbly personality. She was among my closest friends and the scene we did together along with Jeanna Fine in 2002’s No Man’s Land: Legends (Nina Hartley was also in the movie) is among my all time favorites of the last three decades. There’s a behind the scenes clip from that set in the Amber Lynn Videos section of this site which I highly recommend. Teri and I also toured the feature dance circuit together under the name “T&A”. Love you, Teri!

That was a lot of fun to write and reminisce over. What do you think of my 8 choices? It wasn’t easy to select just eight, so don’t be surprised if there’s eventually a part three (or even four). If you have any questions about these ladies, or any other feedback, please make sure you’re on the post’s actual page then – leave a comment.

And definitely don’t forget to check out part 1! Hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Amber’s Article on Adult vs. the Mainstream

Hustler Magazine April 1990 Cover Photo Amber Lynn

I was recently asked to participate in an interview with Hustler magazine which focused on my LA Talk Radio show, Rock ‘N’ Sexxxy Uncensored.

One of my main points was the negative effects of online piracy on the adult and music business.

The central theme of the Hustler article is my mission to bring together the worlds of adult entertainment and music in the interest of discussing their long standing connection via my radio show.

If you’re a fan of little old me, Amber Lynn, or the adult industry in general – have a look.

Amber Lynn Receives Nollywood Humanitarian Achievement Award

The stars came out for the 2018 Los Angeles Nollywood Film Awards earlier this month, and our very own Amber Lynn was recognized with their prestigious Humanitarian Achievement Award.

amber lynn humanitarian awardAmber’s gorgeous ensemble turned heads on the red carpet, and as fellow attendee SoVeryVida put it:

Amber evoked Hollywood glamour with Veronica Lake-esque curls in a sparkling Mac Duggal gown with Azzedine Alaia heels.”

Did she ever. Congratulations, Amber. What can’t you do? Stay tuned for insights from the lady herself in an upcoming post.
